Important Questions That You Should Ask When Choosing A Roofer

When you are out there looking for somebody who will do your roofing, you will be looking for somebody who will do a reliable job and provide quality workmanship. Every individual wants to settle on an individual or company that deliver on their promises. But the big question is how do you find all this? What is the magical formula that is applied to pick the best person or company for the job? Unfortunately, due to market dynamics, there is no sure way of making the right decision, but there are measures that you can put in place to ensure that you eliminate all these guesswork. You should devise a plan that will allow you an opportunity to interview all your potential choices. Here then are some of the questions that you will ask them to ensure that you settle on the best roofer:

Choosing a roofer

Can you provide references and referrals for your company?

Choosing a rooferIf the answer to this question is no, then most probably you will want to move on to another roofer. Ideally, any genuine roofing company that you may be considering should be able to give you references from similar projects that they must have undertaken in the past. If possible, let them show you the photos of the most recent job they have done and completed.

Are you listed with a business bureau?

Besides the information that you get from the references, it is also important to check their ratings as per their ranking in the Better Business Bureau. This is usually a good source of the information that you may need. You should also consider visiting online roofing site as they provide real life feedback experience with the company. This is a great source of unbiased information that will help you make a decision if you don’t get to meet anybody from the company.

Forest Protection Update

Help Protect Sonoma County’s Forest from Conversions
It’s time to continue building public pressure on the issue of Timberland Conversions in Sonoma County’s General Plan. As the Plan nears completion, it will be moving to the Sonoma County Planning Commission and then the Board of Supervisors. Last June, the Citizen’s Advisory Committee (CAC) voted 7-4 in favor of Option 3, recommending that 80% of our timberlands be effectively protected from conversions to vineyards and other uses.

Click here for an update on this critical effort including information on how to take action and show that the public overwhelmingly supports forest protection in Sonoma County.

Be sure and check out www.redwoodsforever.com, a wonderfully-crafted expose’ of the current problem and why now is the time to take action.

Welcome
“I firmly believe, from what I have seen, that this is the chosen spot of all this earth as far as Nature is concerned.” Luther Burbank (From a letter sent home to Massachusetts, soon after arriving in Sonoma County 1875)

We in Northern California are blessed with diverse communities and some of the most spectacular natural environments in the world.

Rapid conversion of our watersheds, native habitat and forest lands to intensive industrial, housing and agricultural development has made us aware that we have some dangerous gaps in laws protecting public health and safety, water quality and quantity, and the environment.

The Town Hall Coalition is a grassroots social movement of citizens from all walks of life who have come together to protect public health and safety and the environment. Your support of the Town Hall Coalition enables us to identify key issues, network with grassroots citizens’ groups and organize teach-ins and public forums. We also produce and distribute position papers for use by friends and neighbors to inform them of their rights regarding water, soil erosion, pesticide drift, habitat degradation, grading, forest conversions to vineyards, industrial vineyard and wine factory development, logging and more.

We have established the Town Hall Coalition Resource Center where people can file complaints, gather information concerning local, state and government regulations that protect the environment and learn how to become a participant in the decision-making process.

Members of the Town Hall Coalition believe that strong democracy is dependent upon an informed public that actively participates in the decision-making process. Our programs include:

Local, county, and regional Town Hall Forums on a wide range of issues including sustainable agriculture, pesticide reduction, creation of parks and wildlife habitat protection, watershed and water quality and quantity protection, erosion control, forest protection and how to participate in the decision-making process. These forums are run by local community members and non-governmental groups.
Replication of Town Hall Coalition organizations in other areas of the region formation of citizen action groups in water, forest, toxics, wildlife habitat protection and advocacy for best practices for agriculture and other development.
Participatory Democracy Campaign-Community and Youth Activist Programs
Formation of the North Coast Water Coalition-Water Activist Forums and North Coast Watershed Network-Focusing on protection of water rights, watersheds and water quality and quantity
Educate and advocate for permanent conservation and protection of critical wildlife habitat, fish spawning streams, native forests, oak woodlands and other native wild ecosystem in parks and “forever wild” conservation easements.
Protecting the wild natural environment and public health will have long-lasting effects on the economy and quality of life of Sonoma County and Northern California.
